Brian, I personally will not condone the methods used to approach your members on the Monday you speak about, all I will say is its born of frustration from the Lever main club who see this as an issue with the bowling fraternity and I had a long discussion with Mark and Robbie from your club after the game on the subject.
You will notice that I did not refer to any specific incidences in my posting, as yours was not an isolated case, I am just taking the opportunity that Mr Crownbowling has presented to get the message out to as many people as possible in the bowling community.
BigMac66 Your point is very valid as many clubs do not serve people under a certain age, this does not however stop a person of the correct age buying them a “soft” drink. I appreciate there are ways around most things , and common sense can prevail, but when you have, players, visitors, guests supplying beer (and in some instances selling beer) around the green, we have a problem, and that is the issue I am trying to ask visitors to respect.
Your second point about asking people not to drink around your green and them respecting that request, Again I agree done in the proper manner that is a good way to go about it, all I am attempting to do is raise awareness of the issue particularly at the Lever and get the message across to a bigger audience.
Gents thank you for your response and
Regards Rob Preston, Lever Club
